Nilwande Dam (निळवंडे धरण अकोले ) also called Upper Pravara Dam is Build on River Pravara in Village Nilwande in Akole Taluka. Due to huge rainfall in Bhandardara backwater region, Bandaradara Dam always overflows during monsoon and lot of water was wasted due to lack of proper reserve dam. Which lead foundation of Nilwande Dam. Construction of Nilwande Dam started in 1999.
After a lot of public opposition & delays, Construction of Nilwande completed in 2011. The height of the dam above lowest foundation is 73.91 m (242.5 ft) while the length is 583 m (1,913 ft).
